About SolarAPP+

Advancing Clean Energy, One Permit at a Time

Developed in collaboration with local governments and the solar industry to advance clean energy technologies.

Where We Started

SolarAPP+ is the only permitting platform that was developed in full collaboration with its stakeholders to both support the entirety of an industry and the environment in which it operates. Funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) and initially managed by the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), SolarAPP+ was developed in collaboration with local building officials and inspectors, standards development organizations, and solar installers.

Where We're Heading

SolarAPP + is now managed by the SolarAPP Foundation, an independent non-profit organization. The SolarAPP Foundation is committed to reducing the soft costs associated with the clean energy transition, making clean energy more accessible and affordable for everyone.
